The Love Note

He set out on foot, shoes tied tight
All he carries is a backpack
Tucked and holding tight a note for you
And this is all he hopes for
His quest and drive and hope and inspiration
To give all he has to you

Sometimes we live all our life just looking for one thing
And never quite know why it’s so hard to get through

He made it through to the middle of nowhere
But now he’s lost the backpack
It’s not to say that he’s given up hope
But he knows everything he owns
Could try to take the place of you
So he clutches his fist around the note for you
And holds it against his chest to seal it with a heartbeat
To give all he has to you

Sometimes we live all our life just looking for one thing
And never quite know why it’s so hard to get through
Well it’s ’cause if you’ve got love, then something always tries to fight you
Don’t let it go

His journey’s brought him to a wall of cold, gray stone
But will he climb it, is it even worth it
The choice weighs heavy on his shoulders
So he sits to take a breath
Are you really worth it?
“Am I really worth it?”

Sometimes we live all our life just looking for one thing
And it’s so hard to get through

Before his tears are finished slipping out
He takes hold of the note he has for you
Now his eyes are watered, but he won’t be crying, because everything is frozen
But this note will mend this, this note must find you
So nothing stops him from getting through

He knows that the look in your eyes will be something
He knows at touch of your hand, his hands are shaking
He sees, in the back of his mind, this is more than perfect
And he knows that this is love, and it’s what he’s fought for
And it’s what he’s holding onto forever
The note was worth it

Sometimes we live all our life just looking for one thing
And never quite know why it’s so hard to get through
Well it’s ’cause if you’ve got love, then something always tries to fight you
But don’t let it go

Foolish Must Have Been We

If you wanted me to die you could have said that you were sorry
And if I still like you after all that you have put me through
Maybe I should want me to die, too
Chains around my feet and a prick upon my spine
Rewinds my mind back in time to where we smiled at each other
How foolish we must be, oh why were you so foolish
So as to not point it out to me

Why must I have been so blind back when we used to be
Telling ourselves that we must pay attention to only that which exists
Within the rear-view mirror
The snow, it made you pretty, falling on your hair
Though covering my eyes, I admit the subtle lies I slipped to you
How foolish we must be, oh why were you so foolish
So as not to point it out to me
