the sun rises and falls as our eyes open and close
we’ve fallen so far that we can only see half of reality while we draw out the rest
and maybe this time around we’ll figure it out
that what we see really isn’t what life is about

driving down the highway, singing with the stereo
with my man-made smile on my face
turn the music up when all of a sudden i hear
that it’s hard to be spiritual in a physical world

and now when i see the sun rise, i don’t want it to fall
i know i’m fallen and i reach for the light that will bring me to my feet
and this time around i’ve figured it out
that what i see really isn’t what life is about

i want a God-given smile on my face
